Question is how God fares when it comes to forgiveness with people like Cody who are unrepentant?
Does God always forgive?
No. Even God has his sore point. Absolution is not amnesia. God does not forget the sins. Read the following:
Matthew 12:31,32 "Therefore I tell you, people will be forgiven for every sin and blasphemy, but blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. Whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come."
Mark 3:28,29 "'Truly I tell you, people will be forgiven for their sins and whatever blasphemies they utter; but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit can never have forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin' - for [scribes from Jerusalem] had said, 'He has an unclean spirit.'"
Luke 12:8-12 "And I tell you, everyone who acknowledges me before others, the Son of Man also will acknowledge before the angels of God; but whoever denies me before others will be denied before the angels of God. And everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven; but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven."
There you have it. God cannot forgive blasphemy of the Holy Spirit, even though, oddly enough, blasphemy against Jesus can be forgiven according to Matthew.
So how come only 1/3 of the Trinity is off-limits to blasphemy? Why or how is the Holy Spirit different?
The way that Jesus talks about God's presence in the world, it always sounds like God is a being revealed in the actions of people.
Following the above Luke quote on blasphemy of the Holy Spirit, Jesus indicates that the Holy Spirit will teach Jesus followers what they ought to say to their persecutors.
In Matthew 25:31-46, Jesus indicates that those who gave help to the hungry, thirsty, strangers, the naked, the sick, the imprisoned, etc. did so also to him; those who did not give help to those in need did not help him (Jesus). In each case, the Spirit of God is revealed through the actions of people.
Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is not acknowleging the sin against your neighbour, because the Spirit of God resides in all people.
So what Jesus is saying is that if you sin against people and you're repentant, you can be forgiven.
But if you violate another person and don't feel that you sinned, then you're not acknowleging the Spirit of God in that person, and therefore you're blaspheming against the Holy Spirit that resides in the person. Therefore, forgiveness should only be given to the one who asks for it.
Thus for those who believe in the word of God should consider the following:
You are not required to forgive those who are unrepentant about the horrible things they did against you.
God does not forgive those who do not respect his Spirit, so neither should you be required to forgive those who do not respect yours.
A person who is repentant should display at least one of the following:
1. Being sorry for what they did, which includes making amends;
2. Willingness to change for the better; or
3. Willingness to ask for forgiveness
Given the circumstances of the organization Cody holds, he and his members of his organization, should be investigated and criminally charged. The first person to contact is Susan Wong. She is the person Cody holds as his prostitute.
